Get-together Forum of  JKCs

VENUE : Prakasam Engineering College, Kandukur, Prakasam(Dt).

Prakasam Engineering College hosted the get-together Forum of 4 Jawahar Knowledge Centers held on 07th January 2005, in a joyful and cheerful environment at their campus to enable the smooth and successful functioning of JKCs and to clear the concerns of students and others.

Students, Principals, Management and Faculty members of the following colleges have participated in the meet and made it as a successful event.

1. Chirala Engineering College, Chirala, Prakasam(Dt).

2. Prakasham Engineering College, Kandukur, Prakasam(Dt).

3. Narasaraopeta Engineering College, Narasaraopet, Guntur(Dt).

4. St Ann's College of Engineering & Technology, Chirala, Prakasam(Dt).

The Dignitaries who were invited for this event inspected the facilities provided for the Jawahar Knowledge Center at Prakasam Engineering College the JKC LAB, JKC Class Room and others. They were interacted with the students of JKC to know their experiences and views about this program. Prof. Ghanta Subbarao garu and Prof. T.Srinivasula Reddy garu enquired the students of JKC about the work they have done and inspected their Homepages.

The delightful one day event inaugurated by Prof. Ghanta Subbarao, President, Institute for Electronic Governance with jyothi-prajwalana. The other Dignitaries on the dais are

Sri K.Ramaiah garu in his inaugural speech appreciated the efforts of Prof. Ghanta Subbarao garu for taking lots of pains to initiate Students Knowledge Forum and Jawahar Knowledge Centers. Sri M.Mahindar Reddy, M.L.A (Kandukur) in his speech appreciated the efforts of the Prakasam Engineering College for initiating these programs in their college and told that the Government support will be there for ever to make this program a success.

Prof Ghanta Subbarao in his speech congratulated the management of the hosting college for conducting this kind of program in the region for the first time. He told that this kind of interaction will help exchange the ideas among the students and college managements. He presented the concept of JKC What is it, Why is it, Who are the stake holders etc.,. He appreciated the efforts of those people who are behind engineering of this program. He told that we have to cover a significant distance to share major part of the IT economy and he expressed his confidence that in next 4 or 5 years we can able to reach that level. We are producing large number of Engineering graduates every year but only less number of them are getting jobs.  This is where we have to apply our mind. He told that the companies have been looking for those who can produce good results in less time. In addition to this the proper learning mechanisms are needed to bridge this gap. He told the StudentKnowledgeForum facilitates this task of experimental environment in the colleges. It assures reasonable infrastructure to the students which can produce results. He told that the industries will come to the JKCs for conducting the campus recruitments. He assured job for each and every student of JKC. He told that the students who are getting the training in JKCs need to propagate their knowledge to the other students in hosting college as well as to the students of their respective parental institutions.

Prof T.Srinivasula Reddy in his speech told that most of the concerns of the JKC students are related with the G.O that to be issued and told that it is in the pipeline. He told that the students of JKC will be under the supervision of hosting college principal. He told that the role of IEG mentors is to see the academic activity be properly organized. He told that this JKC is just like an another department in hosting college. The day to day activities will be maintained by the IEG mentors. Regarding electives we are going to send multimedia content. We will concentrate on electives more once the list of 40 students in each JKC is finalized, from then the class work will be commenced. Regarding projects the students who have already joined in JKCs are busy in acquiring the skills required to complete the project. Once you complete your mini project you then you will do a major project. We are training the mentors in BEA weblogic who will come to the JKCs to train the students in the later part. Another team is working with several government departments to prepare the SRS specification for the applications to be done in their departments.  These SRS documents will be supplied to the students of JKCs to implement them.

In the afternoon session Prof. Ghanta subbarao and Prof. T.Srinivasula Reddy listened to the concerns of the students, college management and clarified their doubts regarding various aspects of this program. They answered to the queries posed by the students, college managements very patiently till every one exhausted of their queries.  

Later in the session the JKC students of the participating Institutions participated in a quiz competition consisting of three rounds,  General Knowledge, Soft skills and Industrial partners of JKC . The JKC students of Prakasam Engineering College are emerged as winners and the JKC students of Narasaraopeta Engineering College as runners.

    In the evening session the JKC students of Prakasam Engineering College organized some interesting competitions among the participant students which added the glow to the show. All it was done in a competitive and joyful environment.

At the end the Prakasam Engineering College management awarded the prizes to the winners and runners of various competitions held. Later they presented mementos to the dignitaries and Sri K.Ramaiah garu gave vote of thanks to all the participants for making the event a grand success.
