Oracle Academy to offer its curriculum to students

Hyderabad : Oracle Academy will offer its business and technology curriculum to students of 342 engineering colleges in Andhra Pradesh.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on this was signed Wednesday by the Institute for Electronic Governance (IEG), an initiative of the state government, with Oracle India Private Ltd (Oracle) and the Oracle Academy.

The IEG, which leads the state's Jawahar Knowledge Centres (JKCs) initiative, will work with Oracle to roll out the Oracle Academy program to 342 engineering colleges that are part of initiative.

Under the MoU, the Oracle Academy program will be offered to more than 50,000 students over a two-year period.

JKCs faculty members will also receive intensive training in the Oracle Academy curriculum so that they may help their students gain vital business and technology skills for 21st century careers.

Students from Andhra Pradesh will join the more than 103,000 students from over 900 education institutions in the Asia Pacific region who have already benefited from the Oracle Academy program, said a statement from the Oracle.

"At IEG, we aim to transform Andhra Pradesh into a knowledge society through the Jawahar Knowledge Centre initiative. This is in line with the government of Andhra Pradesh's reform process, which attempts to bridge the gaps between the industry and academia and make students more employable," said, Amarnath Reddy, CEO of IEG.

"Oracle Academy provides students with access to the business and technology skills required for 21st century careers, " said Krishan Dhawan, managing director of Oracle India.

JKCs were started by the government in engineering colleges in 2004 to extend the benefits of IT and ITeS industry to the rural and remote colleges by imparting employable and industry grade skills to students. Run by the Institute for Electronic Governance (IEG), there are currently over 650 JKCs in the state.

The Oracle Academy supports over 397,000 students in 83 countries.

The Institute for Electronic Governance (IEG), an initiative of the Andhra Pradesh Government, today signed a memorandum of understanding with Information Technology major Oracle India Private Limited and the Oracle Academy to introduce its business and technology curriculum to students in the State. More than 50,000 students of 342 colleges in the State would benefit from the Oracle Academy's business and technology training programme, Company Managing Director Krishan Dhawan and IEG Chief Executive Officer Amarnath Reddy told reporters.

The IEG, which leads the State's Jawahar Knowledge Centre (JKC) initiative to bridge the gap among industry, academia and government and make students more employable, would work with Oracle to roll out the Oracle Academy programme to 342 engineering colleges that were part of the initiative, they said.

As per the MOU, the programme would be offered to more than 50,000 students over a two-year period. In addition, 342, JKC faculty members would receive intensive training in the Oracle Academy curriculum so that they could help their students gain the latest business and technology skills for 21st century careers.

The students from Andhra Pradesh would join more than 1.03 lakh students from over 900 education institutions in the Asia-Pacific Region who were benefitted by the Oracle Academy, according to Oracle Education Initiatives Director Ajay Kapur.

''The programme will help students in developing real-world skills and knowledge that align with industry needs so that students, who participate in the Oracle Academy Programme, have a head-start even before they enter the workforce,'' the IEG CEO added.

AP Signs Pact With Oracle To Help Engineering Students In Updating Their Skills
 

With the aim to assist more than 50,000 engineering students in government as well as private colleges in Andhra Pradesh (AP) in updating their skills, the Institute of Electronic Governance (IEG), which leads AP government's Jawahar Knowledge Centre (JKC) initiative, has signed up a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Oracle India and the Oracle Academy

Under the MoU, the Oracle Academy's business and technology curriculum will be offered to over 50,000 students in 342 private and public engineering and MCA colleges in Andhra Pradesh by the next two years.

Krishna Sistla, director (Oracle education initiatives - Asia Pacific), said, "Participating colleges will receive the latest Oracle database, middleware and development software worth Rs 5,000 crore free of cost, apart from 24X7 technical support. Besides, any new product that would be rolled out from Oracle's stable would be made available to these colleges as an upgrade."

Jawahar Knowledge Center is a scheme by the Andhra Pradesh government that works with engineering, MCA and degree colleges to increase the employability of the students.

Oracle India Managing Director Krishan Dhawan stated, "The program helps students develop real-world skills and knowledge that align with industry needs, so that students who participate in the Oracle Academy have a head-start even before they enter the workforce."

IEG deals with Oracle India

 The Institute for Electronic Governance (IEG) - Andhra Pradesh, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Oracle India Private Limited to participate in Oracle's Global Education Programme named the Oracle Academic Initiative (OAI).
OAI, Oracle, partners with educators globally, enabling them to utilise and deliver state-of-the-art software and curriculum in college and university class rooms.

Under the MoU, Oracle would provide software and curriculum to 60 Jawahar Knowledge Centres (JKCs). Also Oracle would grant licenses for Oracle software, Oracle10g Database, Oracle10g Application server and Oracle 10g Developer Suite-and provide faculty training to the network of JKCs across the State.

JKC aims at promoting Industry-Institute-Government interaction and simultaneously, opportunities to students, getting Government projects done in a cost-effective manner, and producing quality workforce for the industry.
